Daniel Ricciardo Unconvinced by Benefits of Popular F1 Tool Used by Young Drivers
In Formula One, the simulator is hugely important for the drivers and teams. They use them to prepare for future races and to hone their skills. However, McLaren driver Daniel Ricciardo believes that many of the younger drivers rely too much on it. Even then, the Australian driver does not believe that the simulator makes too much of a difference.
Nevertheless, he acknowledged that the younger drivers do enjoy spending time on it. Of course, one can attribute it to the fact that they often spend a lot of time playing video games. Ricciardo explained, “In F1, as in many other sports, The trend is for the young generation to use simulators more and more.
“I don’t know if that helps, but they do enjoy it.”
Daniel Ricciardo also talked about his own future in F1
At the age of 31, the seven-time race winner knows that he is approaching the twilight of his career. However, he insisted that he will continue racing in Formula One in the near future. According to him, as long as he still has the motivation to push the car to the limit, he can still compete.
At the end of the day, everything hinges on how long Ricciardo can keep racing. However, he has declared that if he wants to continue racing, he needs to be competitive. So far, he and teammate Lando Norris have been running strong in the 2021 season. Norris already has a podium under his belt and McLaren have been giving Ferrari a good fight.
Admittedly, Norris has been raking in the lion’s share of the points. However, that was largely because Ricciardo still needed time to get used to his car. Fortunately, the Spanish Grand Prix hinted at good times to come, as it yielded a fantastic result for the Aussie driver, where finished sixth, ahead of his teammate.
Hopefully, he can carry over this good luck and form into the Monaco Grand Prix on 23 May.
