Is Andy Murray Playing the French Open 2021?
Former World No. 1 Andy Murray’s tug of war with his fitness has been the biggest worry for him in recent years. Ever since he injured his hip, he has not been in the best of form, having undergone multiple surgeries. Out of the last 13 Grand Slam tournaments, he has featured in only four.
Recently, it was revealed that Andy Murray will be skipping the French Open 2021, which begins in less than a fortnight. Unfortunately, he still continues to recover from a groin injury. He has been dealing with the issue since the Miami Open in March. Instead, he will look forward to making a return on the grass-court season.
Andy Murray practiced with Novak Djokovic in Rome
Earlier in the week, Andy was seen in Rome, practicing with World No. 1 Novak Djokovic. He entered the doubles event and suffered defeat in the second round.
The British player was contemplating playing at the French Open this season but has opted to skip the event and focus on his grass-court preparations. He even declined a wildcard at the Geneva Open, where Roger Federer is resuming his season.
Moving on to Murray’s season so far, he received a wild card to compete at the Australian Open but couldn’t make it as he was still undergoing the quarantine period due to the coronavirus.
After that, he played at the ATP Challenger Biella, Italy. He had a decent run into the tournament and was unlucky as he lost in the final. His next stop was at the Open Sud de France, where he exited in the initial rounds.
Murray featured next in Rotterdam and lost to Russian player Andrey Rublev in the Round of 16 matches. His next stop on Tour was in Rome this week.

After deciding to give Roland Garros a miss this season, he will look to compete at Wimbledon, a place familiar to him where he has enjoyed major success. As a fan, one hopes to see Andy get back to winning ways.
