‘Wanted to Embarrass You’: Dennis Rodman’s Character on SNL Spoof Mocks Michael Jordan
The Internet is top-to-toe filled with Michael Jordan memes where he is wearing the pale blue t-shirt and interviewing for The Last Dance. The documentary inspired the NBA fans like nothing else whereas the memes tickled the bellies of even the most non-basketball people. It was as if MJ again became a pop icon after 17 years into his retirement.
Naturally, Saturday Night Live, being the coolest comedy show in television history, had to do something about this. So, its first-time host, Keegan-Michael Key decided to put his middle name to some work and mock Air Jordan.
When SNL spoof used The Last Dance reference
The 50-YO Keegan emerged as Michael Jordan in the latest SNL spoof and gave his competitive spirit a new high. He participated in a coin toss bet (as opposed to MJ’s golf bets) with bodyguard John Michael Wozniak (Heidi Gardner). It was all rainbows and sunshine until MJ lost the toss and “took it personally.” As a result, Wozniak began losing possessions one after the other.
That’s when Dennis Rodman (Chris Redd) and Charles Barkley (Kenan Thompson) made their entry with Dennis saying, “The thing with Mikey is that he didn’t just want to beat you, he wanted to dominate you.”
So MJ continued with his bashing of Wozniak, who had soon lost his pants, his wife’s respect, and also that signature hairstyle. Well, that was the SNL level which only recently led to Elon Musk allegedly losing $20 billion.

When Will Smith discussed Michael Jordan and his insane competitive spirit
Almost three years ago, Concussion fame Will Smith appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Just as Jimmy showed Will a picture of him with a young Chicago Bulls Jordan, the actor recalled an interesting story.
The actor who played the legendary boxer Muhammad Ali in one of his flicks, explained how a normal act of hanging out with MJ felt like a competition. He joked about competing with MJ to see who drinks more water until one puts down the glass. Take a look at the entire sequence –
Interestingly, this interview happened years before Netflix released the documentary, proving that MJ’s competitive spirit was popular well before that.
So out of many such instances, which one gets to become your favorite ‘MJ Meme’ moment? Help us know in the comments.
