Stars such as Khloe Kardashian and Zac Efron have made headlines after recent speculation about their changing appearances, but Dr. Terry Dubrow has hit out at those who claim celebrities owe it to the public to discuss alleged secret plastic surgery.

The Botched star has seen his fair share of patients who have undergone procedures in an attempt to emulate their favorite stars, however, he argues it’s unfair to try and force celebrities to discuss private medical information.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, the famed surgeon explained: ‘I don’t think that stars, celebrities or influencers should have to share their own private medical information. They’re entitled to do what they want to do and not disclose it.’

Discussing the recent speculation about Keeping Up With The Kardashians star Khloe following the leak of an unedited bikini snap, he continued: ‘Khloe doesn’t have to share or reveal anything. If she wants to use filters or if she wants to do stuff and she doesn’t want to talk about it, then that fine. Leave her alone. [imitates Chris Crocker] “Leave Khloe alone”.’

The Botched By Nature host added: ‘But if a celebrity is going to talk about it, they should be honest. Someone like Cher likes to talk about what she’s done and she’s someone who makes jokes about having plastic surgery.

‘But I don’t think a celebrity has any duty to anybody to disclose what they’ve been up to, how they lose weight or any of their procedures because everybody’s entitled to have their own lives and their own privacy. I don’t think we should ask about it.’

The former Real Housewives of Orange County warned that those looking to get plastic surgery should ensure they really take the time to research procedures, rather than just taking inspiration from social media accounts speculating on what stars might have done.

He explained: ‘Those accounts can be quite dangerous because they make everything look so easy, and make it look like anything is possible. That’s not true. It’s not easy. You have to make sure that it will work for you and that you’re a good candidate for it.’

Dr. Dubrow also highlighted that some stars often look different compared to the images they share online as he continued: ‘I recently saw a celebrity on Instagram, and I thought, “Wow, that is unbelievable what they’ve done.”

‘Then I saw them in a restaurant and they didn’t look anything like that. I was like, “Oh my gosh, what a lie.” So not everything you see is real and then you’ll be trying to recreate that false image.’

Fans will see the Newport Beach plastic surgeon and Dr. Paul Nassif tackle more surgeries gone wrong in season seven of Botched, with some familiar faces also making a reappearance.

He teased: ‘We have about three or four patients who we’ve seen before, and all I can say about them is that they come back and we don’t even recognize them. They have changed even more. Just wait till you see how they’ve changed and how we have to deal with that. It’s shocking.’

The show will also see the surgeons tackle cases in a new way after the program made a few changes ahead of filming – which then got paused by the pandemic and caused further complications for their patients.

Dr. Dubrow explained: ‘We started filming two months before the pandemic, and while there’s still going to be the usual very extreme complications of plastic surgery, we also had a whole grouping of different parts of the body.

‘One patient had a shark bite of the abdomen that left him with a chunk missing so there are some really interesting cases…Then boom, the pandemic hit and we paused surgery, so a lot of the patients were having active complications.

‘They got worse during that time so once we started up again, it changed the whole structure nature of the season. It’s really interesting. The cases are very unique.’

Botched returns to E! on May 18 in the US while it is available to stream the new season of Botched on hayu in the UK & Ireland from May 19.
