WandaVision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier and To All The Boys: Always and Forever were some of the top winners at last night’s star-studded MTV Movie and TV Awards.

The event returned to our screens after not taking place in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, as it highlighted some of the biggest films and TV series to be released in the past year.

Marvel miniseries WandaVision picked up a total of four awards, including best show, while leading star Elizabeth Olsen won best performance for her portrayal of Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch.

The climactic battle between Wanda and Agatha was awarded best fight, and Kathyn Hahn was selected best villain for her role as Agatha Harkness.

Anthony Mackie won a gong for best hero as Samuel Wilson/Captain America in fellow Marvel series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, beating out Teyonah Parris, who played Monica Rambeau in WandaVision.

He and his co-star Sebastian Stan – who played James Barnes/Winter Soldier/White Wolf – jointly won the award for best duo for their involvement in the show.

Meanwhile, To All The Boys: Always and Forever – the third and final film in the Netflix trilogy – won best movie, one of the top awards of the night.

Chadwick Boseman received a posthumous award in the best performance in a movie category, for his role as Levee Green in Ma Rainey’s Black Botton. The actor died last August at the age of 43 following a battle with colon cancer.

The best kiss award was given to Chase Stokes and Madelyn Cline, who played John B and Sarah Cameron respectively in Netflix show Outer Banks.

Scarlett Johansson was also given the prestigious MTV generation award for her successes as an actress for over three decades.

Appearing via video link with her award, the star reflected on her career in the entertainment industry, while thanking her fans for ‘supporting my career so I can continue to have the good fortune to pursue the job that is my passion.’

‘That’s Nickelodeon!’ Scarlett said in response, referencing the sliming events that usually happen at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.

Sacha Baron Cohen was also the recipient for the comedic genius award, due in part to his many humorous roles over the years.

The actor appeared in character as Borat to accept the award, in a hilarious skit which also saw the return of some of his other roles, including Ali G and Bruno.

Another instalment of the awards are set to take place tonight (May 17) to highlight some of the best reality and documentary series to have been broadcast in 2020.
