“Not a Problem”: Roger Federer Reacts on the Reduced Time-Gap Between French Open and Wimbledon Championships 2021

39-year-old Roger Federer will be making a comeback to the court at the ATP Geneva Open 2021 tomorrow. The Swiss Maestro last played at the Qatar Open 2021 where he, unfortunately, couldn’t win the tournament. Fans believe that Roger is fully fit now and thus, are quite exhilarated about his return.

In a recent interview, Roger Federer faced a tough question. As the French Open 2021 got delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the time period between the major and the Wimbledon Championships is now two weeks instead of three. Federer answered if this change bothers him or not.

“Wimbledon is a priority, but this fifteen-day delay, I have known it during my first ten years, it is not a problem. Geneva, Paris, Halle, and Wimbledon, finally I’m very happy with this calendar,” said Federer in the interview. (Translated by Google Translate)

The Swiss Maestro stated that he has been playing the sport for quite some time now and has witnessed such a scenario in the past- when there used to be only a two-week delay between the two majors. He also mentioned that he is quite happy with the calendar and that the Wimbledon Championships 2021 are his priority right now.

“Think it will be beneficial”- Roger Federer

Federer commented that he’ll be playing at the Halle Open- a title that he has won 10 times after the French Open 2021. He believes that it is enough for him to practice on grass and will be beneficial for him as well. He also highlighted that it is a great way to make a comeback for him.

“It’s a good way to come back for me. I will be hitting a lot of balls and hopefully, it helps for the turf, I think it will be beneficial,” added the 20-time Grand Slam champion.

Roger Federer will return to the court tomorrow- playing at his home. He is the top-seeded player there and will try to gain some momentum on clay before the French Open 2021. Will Federer be able to stun everyone and succeed in Paris this year?
