“Not Looking to Compete Straight Against Them”: Roger Federer on Playing Against Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic

Tennis fans are quite excited about the Geneva Open 2021 as Roger Federer will be returning to the court there. The Swiss Maestro will be making a comeback after quite some time and there are doubts if he is fully fit or not. Federer last played a professional match at the Qatar Open 2021 where he couldn’t go past the second round of the tournament.

In a recent interview, Roger Federer revealed that he can’t go and straightaway compete with Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. He believes that right now, he and both of them are on two different sides.

“Of course there are some question marks. But Nadal and Djokovic are on a side and I on the other. I will tell more after ten matches, but right now I’m not looking to compete straight against them,” said Federer in the interview.

However, Federer also mentioned that he will be able to play against Rafa and Djoker after playing ten matches on tour. As of now, Nadal and Djokovic are in some superb form as they recently played at the finals of the Italian Open 2021. On the other hand, Federer just recovered from a knee injury and thus, stated that he is not currently thinking of facing the two legends.

Roger Federer might face Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovic at the French Open 2021

Federer will soon begin his ATP Geneva Open 2021 campaign. He is the top-seeded player there and will try to gain some form and momentum on clay. There is some great news for his fans as well as he recently announced that he would play at the French Open 2021.

Since Roger is still a top-10 player in the ATP rankings, he might face Djoker or Rafa in the quarters of the Roland Garros. He can also face both of them if he manages to reach the finals by defeating either of the two before. However, right now, both are the top 2 players in the ATP rankings and it’ll certainly not be easy for Federer to beat them on clay.

Federer has only won the French Open title once in his career. He earned that 12 years ago and hasn’t been that great on clay lately. Will Federer be able to beat the odds and stun both Djokovic and Nadal at the Roland Garros this year?
