Rolando Romero Explains Why Ryan Garcia Should Fight Him Next

Ryan Garcia is one of the biggest stars in an exciting lightweight division. The undefeated American has become a global name thanks to his skills in the ring and his social media following. Now, ‘King Ry’ may have a new opponent since Rolando Romero has pushed for a fight yet again.

Akin to Garcia, Romero is another exciting prospect in the division. However, he does not get the same attention that the others superstars in the division. Therefore, it appears he wants to change that with a fight against Garcia next.

The 13-0 boxer spoke to ESNEWS on YouTube and first addressed Garcia’s decision to pull out of his fight. He said, “Trying to get more money with me, I would do it too.”

This comment showed that ‘Rolly’ believes ‘King Ry’ pulled out of the Fortuna bout for a bigger fight.

Romero then explained why the undefeated American should fight him. He said, “I have a belt, I’m a bigger name, people know me, it’s easier to sell the fight and you make more money. It’s stupid not to fight me.”

Should Ryan Garcia fight Rolando Romero?

Based on his comments, the 25-year-old is eager to prove his worth against Garcia. However, ‘King Ry’ is yet to address the call-outs from Romero. So should Garcia agree to a fight against his compatriot?

Garcia, who pulled out of the Fortuna fight citing depression, does not have an opponent lined up. However, he reassured fans he would fight his illness and come back stronger. The superstar would undoubtedly want to return with a bang, and hence, a fight against Romero would make sense.

Romero (the WBA interim champion) is right in saying a fight between the two would be a bigger event. A win here would give either boxer the status of a mandatory for two governing bodies.

Also, considering the personalities of both fighters, it would be an entertaining event. Fans have already gotten a glimpse of this with Romero hitting out at Garcia. Despite this, given that none of the other top lightweights are facing each other, it would be no surprise if this fight did not happen.

What do you make of these comments from Rolando Romero? Do you think Ryan Garcia should face him next?
