Former world number four Japanese tennis player Kei Nishikori, who made a comeback on the ATP tour this year after a shoulder injury last year, is fighting hard to make his mark once again. Ever since winning the Olympics bronze medal in 2016, the Japanese had suffered various injuries and lost his ranking.

But, during his comeback this year, Nishikori played and won several matches but is yet to win a tour title. In the recently concluded Italian Open, he lost in the third round match to Alexander Zverev. While the Japanese player mentioned that it will take a while for him to get to his top form, chances are getting slim owing to the competition on the men’s side.

However, Nishikori announced a great news for all the fans on his app. He and his wife Mai are expecting a baby later this year. The couple registered their marriage in December last year. Nishikori’s wife Mai Yamauchi, is a model.

“Mai and I are excited to announce that later this year we will add a little minion”, Nishikori wrote.

Both Mai and Nishikori have always maintained a tight-lip on their relationship. After dating for five years, the Japanese player announced his marriage to fans through his app.

Adding to the comeback, Nishikori has a lot of positives on the personal front as well. The Japanese player enjoys a loyal fan following across the world after his tremendous success on the ATP tour years ago.

The Japanese player had won his last tour title at the 2019 Brisbane Open. In the tournament, he defeated the likes of Grigor Dimitrov, Jeremy Chardy, and beat Daniil Medvedev in the finals. Even though it was a sloppy ride for the Japanese since then, he was capable of winning more titles if he is back in good form.

The Japanese player will participate in the French Open later this month.
