‘We’ll Stay at the Cozy Apex’- Dana White Shares Massive News About Upcoming UFC Fight Night Events

Both UFC 261 and UFC 262 proved to be successful events that marked the return of fans to UFC arenas after over a year. The success of these events could have tempted UFC to hold their Fight Night events before packed arenas. However, UFC President Dana White has firmly asserted that they have no such plans, at least for the rest of 2021.

At the UFC 262 post-fight press conference, when asked about his views on live crowds for live events, the boss said, “We’re not even looking at Fight Nights, I mean we didn’t even have gates in our budget until October or November. So, right now, to start trying to find places for Fight Nights it just makes no sense, we’ll stay at the cozy Apex and do our thing for the rest of the year I think.”

Subsequently, White allayed fears that the UFC would host Fight Nights at the Apex for good. He credited the sport’s growth to their ability to take the UFC all over the world.

He said, “You know, we go to Oklahoma, you know places where people usually don’t get fights. So the Fight Nights are a big part of our brand and we’ll continue to do it when the whole country opens up.”

The Apex, which has hosted multiple events since last year without a crowd, has been a great asset to UFC. And now, it will continue to be used on a weekly basis throughout 2021.

Dana White speaks on people with masks and no masks in the event

White hopes that a day would come soon where normalcy would be the order. He, though, doesn’t have a problem with people appearing at the event with or without masks. “If you don’t want to wear a mask, you should be able to walk around and go do what you want…and if you want to wear a mask, wear a mask,” said the UFC President.

When asked about receiving offers to host events, White clarified they would only host events at places where they can fill the arenas. For now, the UFC will focus on a few Fight Night events at the Apex before heading to Arizona for UFC 263. After another spell at the Apex, they will head to the T-Mobile Arena for UFC 264.
