“Who Are You Fighting?”- David Benavidez Calls Out Jermall Charlo

David Benavidez appears fine with moving down to 160 lbs to fight WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo. 24-0 as a professional, Benavidez is already a two-division world titlist. However, he holds no belt at 168 lbs right now and may not receive a shot at the super middleweight gold anytime soon.

Caleb Plant and Canelo Alvarez will reportedly lock horns to unify the super-middleweight belts. So, Benavidez has turned towards the middleweight gold and has called out ‘The Hitman’ Jermall Charlo. Looking back at his former WBC strap, Benavidez spoke with ESNEWS and made his statements.

“What’s up Jermall Charlo? Who are you fighting??? I wanted Charlo already, but you see who Charlo is fighting now. Man, you could have made a lot of money, he wants money,” said ‘El Bandera Roja’.

Despite all the call-outs, Juan Macias Montiel will have his shot at Jermall Charlo over everyone. ‘The Hitman’ will defend his title against the Mexican boxer on June 19. Hence, Benavidez will have to wait and see how the title fights at 160 lbs and 168 lbs play out.

Although Benavidez looks eager to fight for a title, he may not have Canelo Alvarez’s and Jermall Charlo’s attention. Akin to several other champions, 30-year-old Charlo has also expressed a desire to fight Alvarez. Thus, Benavidez might be out of his radar.

Charlo might quit the 160 lbs division to move up to 168 lbs, making it easier to settle a fight with Benavidez. However, the American has only expressed interest in Alvarez and is even ready to relinquish his world title for the fight.

“F*ck the money, f*ck the fame, f*ck the networks. I’ll lose my title and go to 168, make the fight happen now,” said Jermall Charlo. (H/T:- Boxinginsider)

Given these developments, there are several interesting potential bouts. Now, only time will tell who fights whom and in which division for which world title.
