All That Glitters has crowned Hugo Johnson as Britain’s first next jewellery star in tonight’s final.

Judges Shaun Leane and Solange Azagury-Partridge picked the 24-year-old contestant as their winner after challenging the remaining three hopefuls to make a pair of pearl earrings and a bridal headpiece.

Hugo was stunned by his victory and exclaimed: ‘Oh my God.’

‘We’re really, really proud of you,’ Solange said. ‘To see how you flourished throughout this competition has been really inspiring and it’s been a real privilege. Congraulations.’

Once the news had sunk in, Hugo responded: ‘So many people to thank. My family, my mother – she’s the reason I’m doing this.’

Speaking to the camera, he continued: So many ups and downs throughout this whole thing. There were times where you think, “I’m definitely being sent back” but by the skin of your teeth you stay in.’

Shaking his trophy, he added: ‘And thank God I stayed in!’

‘He came with ambition, energy, that drive, and that passion, I can just see him blossoming and becoming a great jeweller,’ judge Shaun enthused.

Hugo was up against fellow contestants Tamara and Dan in the final episode.

His victory was revealed after he won the first challenge, as well as his bespoke bridal piece being selected by a perspective client.

All That Glitters is available for catch up on BBC iPlayer.
