Could Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing Become a Reality Soon?
At the age of 37, Brad Keselowski could soon be thinking about his future in the sport. However, reports have suggested that the 2012 Cup Series champion could move to Roush Fenway Racing team next season.
These reports also suggest that the deal entails part ownership in the team. If this deal does fall into place, he will replace Ryan Newman in the No. 6 Ford.
However, not much has been revealed about his stake in the team. There is also a rumor that Roush Fenway could also be renamed in light of the deal. Meanwhile, there will also be questions about Ryan Newman’s future if Keselowski takes his place.
Keselowski’s multi-year contract with Penske expired when the 2020 season concluded. After that, the two decided to extend their partnership for another year. So the driver will be left on the lurch in 2022 unless the Roush Fenway deal comes through.
Roush Fenway and Team Penske were tight-lipped on the matter
Interestingly, Team Penske and Roush Fenway Racing remained mum on the matter. However, it is worth mentioning that if this were true, he would be the second Cup driver to become a driver-owner. The only other active driver-owner is Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin.
Hamlin entered a joint partnership with the legendary Michael Jordan to set up 23XI Racing. Of course, Brad Keselowski is no stranger to being a NASCAR owner. This is because he owned the Brad Keselowski Racing Truck Series team until it folded after the 2017 season.
For now, the driver will be training his focus on the ongoing 2021 season. This weekend, the Cup Series drivers will be visiting the Circuit of The Americas for the first time. Several drivers have already had a few tests at the track, but the real thing in race conditions could be a different story.
