Daniel Cormier Talks About Arjan Bhullar’s Incredible MMA Journey

Arjan Bhullar recently became the first India-origin fighter to win an MMA heavyweight title. Bhullar defeated Brandon Vera at One Championship: Dangal event via a second-round TKO to win the championship. Ever since Bhullar has won the title, people from all over the world have congratulated the fighter.

Recently MMA legend and Bhullar’s teammate at AKA Daniel Cormier also talked about the newly crowned champion. Cormier said, “Very proud of Arjan man. You know he’s a young man that came into the OTC as a very young kid from Canada to try to learn and make an Olympic team.

“Ultimately, he made the Olympic team went to the Olympic games then came to AKA to learn from the heavyweights like myself and Cain Velasquez.

” Now he becomes the first Indian heavyweight champion of the world. 1 billion people are in India, one billion strong. We mentioned the thing that Arjan carries, and this morning he sent me a text message. It is called, it is a weapon of war, used by the god of wrestling in the Indian culture.”

Cormier was full of praise for the champion and applauded his journey. Bhullar started his journey as a young fighter in Canada, who dreamed of taking part in the Olympics. He ended up competing in the 2012 summer Olympics, while also winning a gold medal at the 2010 Commonwealth games.

Bhullar’s victory is not just an achievement for him, it will also pave a way for many other Indian wrestlers who want to compete in top-tier MMA events. Cormier believes that Bhullar’s victory is going to be the push that was needed for more Indian fighters to get into MMA.

Cormier said, “So another just real shout-out to his heritage, his culture, and this is massive for Arjan and massive for India. he truly believes that he is gonna open the door for more of those high-level wrestlers. Because India has big wrestlers coming into mixed martial arts.”

And this already is coming to the forefront as the AKA are planning on opening an Academy in India in Goa. This would be great for upcoming wrestlers who want to get trained at the top level.
