Elden Ring, Silksong, and Hellblade 2 are no shows at E3 next month claim sources

Next month’s E3 digital event may not feature quite the range of games you expect, with Rare’s Everwild and the sequel to Hollow Knight MIA.

Considering there essentially was no E3 last year – just a couple of publisher events that took place at roughly the time it would’ve happened – it’s hard to know what to expect from June’s digital only expo.

A number of publishers do seem to be enthusiastic about it, including Nintendo and Microsoft, but the latest rumours suggest a number of key titles are going to be missing in action.

Perhaps the most disappointing is Bandai Namco and FromSoftware’s Elden Ring, the spiritual successor to Dark Souls which was announced in 2019 and has never been seen in public again.

According to VentureBeat journalist Jeff Grubb, who has a history of being accurate with video game reveals, Elden Ring won’t be at E3 and neither will Rare’s Everwild or Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2.

Much like Elden Ring, both were announced before the pandemic and have never been shown again. Everwild is not much of a shock, as there have been reports that even Rare isn’t sure what kind of game it will be yet, but Hellblade 2 is more surprising as it was the first game to be revealed during the Xbox Series X unveiling in December 2019.

The implication at the time was that it would be released relatively early in the console’s career, but developer Ninja Theory announced that the game is moving over to Unreal Engine 5, which was only made available to studios this year, so that delay at least is explained.

The fact that Hollow Knight: Silksong won’t be at E3 comes straight from the horse’s mouth, with developer Matthew Griffin, aka Leth, announcing on Discord that, ‘Team Cherry does not have any announcements/blogs scheduled for E3 this year’.

Team Cherry are a tiny team, so any delay, especially given the pandemic, is not a surprise but it’s still disappointing given the original Hollow Knight is now four years old.
