Fans have been showing support on social media after the members of K-pop group GFriend parted ways with their label Source Music after six years.

Eunha, SinB, Umji, Yerin, Sowon and Yuju debuted under the company in 2015, releasing the mini album Season Of Glass.

In a statement released on WeVerse on Tuesday, Source Music informed the group’s fandom, called Buddy, that the members have chosen not to renew their contracts after they end on May 22.

There is no word on whether the group will decide to stay together or join a different label.

Buddy took to Twitter to express support for the six members and vowing to follow whatever they get up to next.

‘Wherever you go. Whatever path you take. We will follow. We’re all in this together, GFriend,’ read one heartfelt comment.

Praising their dance moves, one fan tweeted: ‘My synchronization queens, my Gfriend I love you and I will support you always.’

Said one BUDDY: ‘Gfriend leaving Source Music doesn’t mean disbandment. Either way I am here for our girls. We just need to wait and see.’

Source Music said in their statement: ‘The exclusive artist contract with GFRIEND and Source Music will be concluded on May 22.

‘After careful consideration and extensive discussion, GFriend and Source Music have come to an agreement to follow separate paths to continued growth.

‘For the past six years, GFriend has won the boundless love of K-pop fans through a wide range of concepts, performances and songs that marked a new generation of girl group and music.

‘We would like to express our sincere and heartfelt gratitude to GFriend who has allowed Source Music to accompany them on their journey.

‘We would like to deeply thank all Buddy and fans who have shown your love for GFriend, and we ask that you give your unchanging love and support to the members who will begin their adventures in new and diverse areas.

‘Source Music will always continue to cheer for the members as they take the first step towards new beginnings.’

GFriend released songs such as Crossroads, Flower, and Apple, which Metro.co.uk named one of the best K-pop comebacks of 2020.

Their last album was Walpurgis Night in November.
