“Help Me, Tom Cruise” – Alex Bowman Jokes After Leading Hendricks Motorsports to a Historic Finish

At the Dover International Speedway, Alex Bowman stormed to Victory Lane. In the process, he became the second driver to take more than one win, after Martin Truex Jr. However, it appears that he put his car through the wringer and it did not emerge fully unscathed.

During his post-race interview, he noticed that his car has a few small fires under it. He joked, “We’re under a lot of fire over here. I don’t know, somebody’s got to come put that out. I might want to keep it. So appreciative to have you guys [the fans] out here. Best racetrack on the schedule, in my opinion, wish we still came here twice. Help me Tom Cruise, I’m on fire. That’s a big fire, I’m kind of worried.”

At Dover, the Hendrick Motorsports quartet ran riot. Behind Bowman were Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, and William Byron. It is also worth mentioning that Byron was the biggest gainer, as he catapulted to 2nd in the championship.

What does this mean for Alex Bowman in the championship?

Admittedly, Bowman only moved up to 13th place in the Cup Series championship. However, it is worth mentioning that it is still a long season and anything can happen. Meanwhile, this gives him a massive confidence boost for his championship hopes. Furthermore, teammate William Byron sits one point ahead of Martin Truex Jr, but 101 behind Denny Hamlin.

Hamlin is only hanging onto his championship lead by the skin of his team. All this is in spite of him still not winning a race this season. Obviously, this would not sit well with the Joe Gibbs Racing driver, on principle. So he will be looking forward to the coming races to finally break his jinx. Meanwhile, everyone will be eagerly waiting for the first ever NASCAR Cup race at the Circuit of the Americas.
