‘Life is One Big Bonus’: Jon Jones Expecting Big Things in the Future

Jon Jones is currently in the sidelines. The former light-heavyweight champion relinquished his belt last year to prepare for a move up to the heavyweight division of the UFC. But negotiations between him and the UFC took a major hit, due to which he has not been seen in the octagon for a substantial amount of time.

One fan asked Jones on Twitter how he always maintains a positive attitude and stays confident despite everything. “Honestly I’m a blessed individual. My whole story is in Gods hands, I believe there’s huge things in my future. Things don’t always happen when we want them to,” Jones replied.

‘Bones’ also suggested that he is actually blessed to be in the position he is in today. Things always don’t happen the way one wants them to. But he remains grateful through and through even when in adversity. “Sometimes I feel like my life is one big bonus, never imagine I would be in this position in life. I’m grateful even when things don’t go my way,” wrote Jones.

It’s unfortunate that the recent situation between Jones and the UFC has developed in such a manner. No party has benefitted from this. Jones has been out of action for over a year. Also, one can assume having their best fighter ever out of action in his prime isn’t doing the company any good.

Will Jon Jones fight in 2021?

Jones was expected to fight Francis Ngannou after the Cameroonian grabbed hold of the heavyweight throne at UFC 260. However, under certain circumstances, ‘The Predator’ is almost set to fight Derrick Lewis next in the first defense of his title. That has left ‘Bones’ out in the cold.

It seems very unlikely that we are going to see Jones in action before 2021 ends. Also, ‘Bones’ dismissing the possibility of him fighting Stipe Miocic in his heavyweight debut jeopardized the situation even more.

If indeed Jones doesn’t fight this year anymore, it will be almost 2 years of hiatus for the former 205 lbs champion. That doesn’t save anybody’s purposes, to say the least. How things unfold in the near future remains to be seen.
