Vettel Explains Why He’s Relishing the F1 Challenge of Monaco Despite Aston Martin Struggles

Sebastian Vettel is yet to make a mark with Aston Martin this season. With zero points from the first four races, the German has struggled to get the car in the points, despite their exceptional performance last season.

Ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix, Vettel shared his two cents on the iconic race. He mentions the progress made by the team in Barcelona, and his excitement going into the weekend.

Sebastian Vettel is “excited for the challenge of Monaco”

The Monaco Grand Prix is one of the most iconic races on the F1 calendar. Some of the greatest drivers in F1 history have won in Monaco, ranging from Ayrton Senna to Michael Schumacher.

A two-time winner himself, Vettel is excited for the challenge that is the Monaco Grand Prix. The German also outlined what the team will focus on this weekend.

He said“We know that our race pace has often been stronger than our single-lap pace, so we’ll be focusing extra hard on that all-important qualifying performance this weekend.

“I’m excited for the challenge of Monaco – there’s no other track like it.”

Vettel feels the team made an improvement in Spain

Although Vettel finished P13 in the Spanish Grand Prix, he feels the team made an improvement in Barcelona. The four-time world champion feels such improvements will help them in the season that remains.

The German said, “There’s a long season ahead, and the new parts we ran in Barcelona felt like an improvement and are helping us to move forward. The goal is to build on that in Monte-Carlo.”

While Vettel has won in the famed street circuit, he’s far from that situation at the moment. He will hope his experience helps him put in a strong position to score his first points of the season in Monaco. Can the “improved” Aston Martin deliver in Monaco? Or is another struggle on the cards for the 33-year old?
