1996 Monaco Grand Prix Winner Olivier Panis Admits He’d Love to Test Mercedes F1 Car

The last generation of Formula One drivers would like nothing more than to test a modern F1 car. Former F1 driver, Oliver Panis has stated his desire to drive the 2020 Mercedes W11 car.

The W12 was responsible for achieving the Brackley-based squad seventh constructor’s championship. It was also helped Lewis Hamilton equal Michael Schumacher’s record. So it’s no wonder that the French driver would love to be behind the wheel of this amazing piece of machinery built by the Silver Arrows.

Ex F1 driver Olivier Panis shares his desire to drive the Mercedes

On an episode of the podcast, F1:Beyond the Grid, being asked how much he would love to test a modern car, Panis said, “I would love to test. But I don’t think physically I’ll manage doing it!. My neck is good, but after the test, I think after two laps, it will disappear.”

He added, “For sure if someone gives me a test just to enjoy. For sure I am doing it, cause I love this, I want to know what’s the new Formula One… If somebody says to me, ‘Do you want to test?’ For sure I am doing it.”

How’s the w12 car doing for the Silver Arrows this season?

The W12 is the Brackley-based squad’s newest contender for the 2021 championship. The car has been exceptional throughout all the races that has happened to date.

The next round of the championship takes us to Monaco, where things might be challenging for the Silver Arrows. However, they remain optimistic can believe they can achieve a good result at Monte Carlo.

Mercedes leads the championship table, with 141 points, and would like to keep that lead by having a spectacular race in the upcoming weekend.
