Previously, access to the high-quality files cost Amazon Music users £5 per month, but that charge has now been removed.
The change comes as Apple Music added high-quality lossless audio and spatial audio to its service at no extra charge earlier this week.
Meanwhile Spotify’s own upcoming ‘HiFi’ service will see the streaming company also offer ‘hi-res’ audio.
Amazon’s change will affect Amazon Music users in the UK, US, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain.
Meaning access to 70 million songs in HD (CD quality) – and an additional 7 million in Ultra HD for no added charge.
If you’re not yet a user of Amazon Music service, Music Unlimited Individual is priced at £9.99 a month (£7.99 for Prime members), while the Family Plan is £14.99.
Both now have access to Amazon Music HD. Should you already be paying for the service, the charge will end at the start of your next billing cycle.
