Amouranth demonetised on Twitch as Indiefoxx and xQc defend hot tub meta

Controversial hot tub streamer Amouranth has had all ads removed from Twitch, but other Twitch stars have come out in sympathy.

The Twitch channel for Kaitlyn ‘Amouranth’ Siragusa has been stripped of all advertising, losing her tens of thousands of dollars a month, but she still doesn’t know why.

It’s commonplace for Twitch to take drastic action without ever explaining itself, with Dr Disrespect still claiming to not know why he was banned from the service, and what’s happened to Amouranth seems to be another example of that.

Whatever the problem is it’s not the fact that almost all her streams now involve her sitting in a hot tub in a bikini, as that’s become so prevalent nowadays that hundreds of streamers are doing the same thing.

It’s possible Amouranth could’ve shown more skin than she should have – she has been banned from Twitch before for nudity – but there’s not been any reports of any wardrobe malfunctions so far.

Twitch has previously made it clear they have no problem with the hot tub concept and yet Amouranth found herself demonetised without any prior warning – which is also how Twitch usually operates.

Apparently they didn’t even tell her it had happened, and she had to contact Twitch in order to find out what was going on.

Arch-rival Jenelle ‘Indiefoxx’ Dagres has been surprisingly sympathetic about the situation, no doubt realising that it could easily have happened to her, although according to her ad revenue is a relatively small part of her income compared to subscription money.

‘Instead of demonetising, they should just get rid of the content they don’t like’, said Indiefoxx during one of her streams.

‘If they didn’t want that, why didn’t they just say no? … If they don’t want the content, they should ban the content altogether. I think women are just competitive and want to try one-up each other.’

Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel described the situation as ‘scary’ and said that while Amouranth is being treated as a scapegoat that may end up helping other streamers, as it will force Twitch to address the issue in public.

At the moment there are no reports of other streamers being demonetised but xQc is clearly worried that it could happen to him, or anyone else, without any warning or explanation.
