Former F1 Champion Predicts More Imola-Like Errors from Hamilton Because of Verstappen Pressure

Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen have been intense battles around in recent years. The two drivers have been pushing each other to the limit to achieve a win. However, at times they pushed beyond the limit and made mistakes as seen by Hamilton in Imola. Former world champion, Jacques Villeneuve has stated that the Mercedes driver will make more mistakes during this season.

As we head to the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix for the upcoming weekend. Can Villeneuve be correct by stating that the Brit might make more mistakes this season? We shall soon find out.

Canadian World champion, Villeneuve says Hamilton will make more errors this season

As quoted by GP Blog, Villeneuve said,” Max has learned over the last few years to always push and drive extremely on the limit to be able to get a win or a podium.”

“Lewis hasn’t had to do that in every race because his main opponent was his teammate who wasn’t on the same level in battles. So Lewis hasn’t always had to go to the limit in the past, but that’s different this year.”

You can see that from the mistake he made in Imola. He wanted to get through the field too quickly and then got very lucky with the red flag. We’re going to see more mistakes like that,” he concluded.

The battle so far between Verstappen and Hamilton

The 2021 Formula One season, has seen exceptional battles around the track. The most notable is the rival between Red Bull prodigy, Max Verstappen and Mercedes‘s Hamilton.

The Spanish Grand Prix, saw The Knight come out on top, whereas Verstappen had to settle for second place. Hamilton currently leads the championship with 94 points and is being chased by the Dutch driver who has scored 80 points till now.

Monaco is the fight round of the championship, Hamilton would aim for a win that sees him still in lead for the title.
