Glow Up series 3 was crazy emotional behind the scenes, with eliminated contestant Samah revealing that there were tears each day of filming.

According to the make-up artist, who became the latest hopeful to be voted out of the competition in episode five, presenter Maya Jama, judges Val Garland and Dominic Skinner, and the other contestants would often be overcome with emotion and cry happy tears.

‘The show was a lot more emotional than it is on TV, which we’re so happy about,’ Samah exclusively told Metro.co.uk.

‘We cried so much. There were points were Maya was crying, Val was crying, the producers were crying. We were an emotional bunch.’

Explaining why so many tears were shed, Samah said: ‘I think it was the pandemic. We were going from seeing no one, to overwhelming, full-blown situations. Just meeting new people exhausts you as well. All of that stuff just builds up and no one’s had a holiday.’

She’s got a point.

‘In the last episode I’m not even wearing foundation I’ve got a little bit of concealer and bronzer on. I was like, I give up.’

Samah added that the Glow Up crew were incredibly supportive during filming and would look out for them when they were teary-eyed.

And what’s more, the contestants helped each other out by sharing tips and teaching each other skills behind the scenes.

‘We all learnt so much from each other,’ Samah enthused. ‘Riley gave us tips and tricks on using social media, Sophie showed us how to use a bald cap… We didn’t really see it as a competition to be honest.’

Speaking about her exit in episode five, Samah said she was ready to go home.

‘I never contact my mum during the break out time,’ she said. ‘That day I contacted her and said, “mum, I’m coming home. I can feel it in my soul”.’

BBC Three’s Glow Up is streaming now on BBC iPlayer, with new episodes every Tuesday at 7pm.
