Islam Makhachev believes his career is moving in the right direction
Makhachev has a great UFC career till now winning 8 out of 9 UFC fights. However, the fighter believes that no top-tier fighter is still agreeing to fight with him and that is slowing his progress in the division.
“We were looking for an opponent for a long time, but we have the following schedule: out of the top 10, none of the free ones agreed to fight for various reasons. They said if you have to get the top you have to wait until November, December.”
Although Makhachev believes is doing everything well and has an illustrious career lined up for him. He believes that fighting top-ranked guys would certainly help him a lot.
“My career is moving slowly but in the right direction. Winning every fight makes me higher in ranking. At some point in my old age, I will reach this belt with a 20-fight streak.”
What does the future hold for Makhachev?
Although Makhachev did not get to fight a top-ranked lightweight fighter, he is still fighting one of the brightest talents of the UFC lightweight division. Moises is ranked No.15 in the UFC and is coming into the fight on the back of three consecutive victories.
Makhachev would be looking to win this fight and then secure a fight against one of the high-ranked UFC fighters. Makhachev is just 29 years old and still has quite some time left in his career. Therefore, it is certain that we will see the fighter compete against top UFC names in the near future.
