‘It’s All Mental’- Teammate Rob Font Details How Calvin Kattar is Planning to Make his Return After the Loss to Max Holloway

UFC featherweight contender Rob Font sat down with Brett Okamoto ahead of his main event booking against Cody Garbrandt. Font is gearing up for the biggest fight of his career thus far and will be keen to secure a win against a former champion. He’s coming off a three-fight win streak and brutally TKO’ed Marlon Moraes in his last fight.

Chiefly, Font trains out of the surging team, New England Cartel under the diligent tutelage of Tyson Chartier. Along with Font, Calvin Kattar has also emerged as a major player from the team and is a top featherweight contender. Kattar suffered a horrendous beating at the hands of Max Holloway in his last fight and Font was asked to share his views on the matter.

ESPN’s Brett Okamoto asked Font about the manner in which his teammate, Calvin Kattar as coping with the loss. Kattar absorbed a record-breaking number of significant strikes in the fight in what was a showcase for Holloway. Rob Font explained that a patient approach to training was the best way for Kattar to return to form.

“It’s all mental, It’s mental for him [Kattar]. Fighting a guy like, fighting the best in the world It’s tough. I think Max just had a great night instead of Calvin having an off night. Yeah I mean, it’s trying to stay positive and just get to work with just techniques and getting better, defensively, offensive and just mixing it up a little bit more.”

Despite the loss to Max Holloway, Calvin Kattar remains a dangerous outing for anyone in the upper echelon. Tyson Chartier at the New England Cartel has ensured that his athletes have had a major step-up to their game. Rob Font has been a part of this revolution and he’s shown tremendous potential as a contender.

Cody Garbrandt is brimming with confidence after his last KO which managed to capture the attention of the MMA community. He’s had to deal with injury, however, he’s expected to bring his A-game and provide a tough test for Font.
