Olivia Attwood has reflected on her romance with Chris Hughes and admits their ‘incompatibility’ led to a ‘toxic’ relationship.

The stars met and fell for each other on Love Island in 2017 with viewers entertained with the highs of their romance while grimacing at the lows and their explosive arguments.

Needless to say, their relationship didn’t last much longer outside of the villa and Olivia reunited with her former boyfriend Bradley Dack, who she’s now engaged to.

Olivia revealed how she and Brad discussed ‘how mad’ their journey together has been after breaking up before she went on the ITV2 dating show, leaving their relationship ‘up in the air’.

She explained to the Mail Online: ‘I thought when I was in Love Island that was it. I was so done with him but then I ended up in another relationship that ended up being so toxic and all-consuming. And sometimes that’s what happens and it pushes you back to your ex.

‘After that we needed a good year to find our footing as a couple again. I still wasn’t sure.’

Olivia continued: ‘It was toxic with Chris and we argued a lot. I never had that problem with Brad, we never argued.

‘I was just incompatible with Chris. You meet on this show and things are very different in the real world. You think ‘oh s**t do we actually have stuff in common?’ It wasn’t meant to be.’

Olivia and Brad got engaged in October 2019 with the ex-footballer proposing during a romantic trip to Dubai.

Meanwhile Chris – who went on to date Little Mix’s Jesy Nelson for a year – recently opened up about his dating life and revealed he was single and ready for love again.

‘I haven’t got anything really exciting to report. It’s hard at the moment, it’s hard to actually go and date. I like to go and meet people in person, I think you can gauge a very different personality in person than when you do over the internet or by phone or text,’ Chris told Metro.co.uk of dating in lockdown.

The reality star added: ‘But hopefully one day we can go freely and safely meet people and date them.

‘At the moment I’ve got no one in my old love life.’

Chris went on to explain that his highly-publicised romances haven’t deterred him from sharing his future girlfriends and stated he won’t be ‘rushing’ into another relationship.
