Monaco GP: Max Verstappen Reveals His Ambition of Breaking Duck With the ‘Highest Podium’

Every driver aims for a win at a Grand Prix, but to envision yourself winning at the crown jewel of F1, Monaco is having true self-belief. Max Verstappen is no different and has stated his desire to win in the upcoming race weekend.

The Dutchman currently sits in 2nd place behind Lewis Hamilton in the driver’s championship. A win at Monaco will give him the 25 points that sees him take the lead for the title.

However, it might not be easy, as Hamilton would double down from his victory in Spain and aim for a similar victory around the streets of Monte Carlo.

Max Verstappen hopes to see the chequered flag in first place at Monaco

As quoted by Speedweek, Max said, “I’ve never been on the podium in Monaco, and I’d like to change that. We just need a smooth weekend, I think that’s very important. We’ll see if we’re fast or not, but so far we’ve been pretty close in qualifying. I hope that it will be the same in Monte Carlo.”

“I know from my own experience that no mistakes are allowed in Monaco, we just have to make sure that we can do everything well on Saturday, because on Sunday it will be difficult to move forward in the race. However, so much can happen. We just have to be in top form in order to end up on the highest podium,” Verstappen concluded.

The 23-year-old has been in spectacular form since the 2021 season kicked off. Verstappen has made on the podium so far and would aim for better results in the upcoming races.

The Red Bull prodigy currently holds second place in the championship with 80 points. He would aim to score maximum points at Monaco to help him in his fight for the title.
