Piers Morgan ‘identifies as attention-seeking celebrity’ in apparent dig as Demi Lovato comes out as non-binary
Piers Morgan has appeared to reference Demi Lovato coming out at non-binary, as he shared a mocking post about identifying as an ‘attention-seeking celebrity’.
Earlier on Wednesday, Demi revealed they identified as non-binary and would be using they/them pronouns from now on.
However, it didn’t seem as though the former Good Morning Britain host was too impressed by their announcement, taking aim at the news on his own social media page.
Taking to Twitter, the journalist wrote: ‘Some personal news: I am proud to let you know that I identify as an annoying attention-seeking celebrity.
‘This has come after a lot of self-reflective work but it’s my truth & lived experience.’
Piers has previously shared his thoughts on those who identify as gender-fluid, declaring on Good Morning Britain that he identified as a ‘two-spirit penguin’ in a heated debate.
He also claimed Sam Smith came out as non-binary in 2019 as a way of promoting their music and to get attention.
This isn’t the first time Piers has called Demi out, as he recently waded into their drama with a frozen yoghurt shop in LA, when they accused the snack shop of triggering those recovering from eating disorders.
His latest post came after the Cool For The Summer singer came out as non-binary on their Instagram page, sharing their pronouns of ‘they/them’ with fans.
‘Every day we wake up, we are given another opportunity and chance to be who we want and wish to be,’ the Disney favourite penned. ‘I’ve spent the majority of my life growing in front of all of you… You’ve seen the good, the bad, and everything in between.
‘Not only has my life been a journey for myself, I was also living for those on the other side of the cameras.
‘Today is a day I’m so happy to share more of my life with you all – I am proud to let you know that I identify as non-binary and will officially be changing my pronouns to they/them moving forward.
‘This has come after a lot of healing and self-reflective work. I’m still learning and coming into myself, and I don’t claim to be an expert or a spokesperson.
‘Sharing this with you now opens another level of vulnerability for me. I’m doing this for those out there that haven’t been able to share who they truly are with their loved ones. Please keep living in your truths and know I am sending so much love your way.’
In a teaser for their new podcast series 4D, Demi added: ‘Over the past year and a half, I’ve been doing some healing and self-reflective work. And through this work I have had the revelation that I identify as non-binary.
‘With that said, I’ll officially be changing my pronouns to they/them. I feel that this best represents the fluidity I feel in my gender expression, and allows me to feel most authentic and true to the person I both know I am and still am discovering.’
