Rob Brydon has kept Lorraine Kelly in check on her own show, joking that the morning TV star needs to stay ‘family friendly’ after a cheeky quip.

The Gavin and Stacey star chatted away to the presenter as they recalled their sketch on Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, which saw them donning balaclavas for a bank heist bit.

Lorraine admitted she’d accidentally nabbed her balaclava, with Rob delving into what exactly she needed the item for.

‘I went away with the balaclava,’ she confessed, swiftly adding: ‘By mistake!’

‘I hope you’re not planning a heist,’ he told her, with Lorraine quipping: ‘Or you know, anything nefarious.’

‘Lorraine!’ Rob interrupted. ‘I wasn’t going to go…see, I went heist for family friendly. I know what you’re thinking and I steered clear of that!’

‘You did, because you’re a very class act,’ she laughed.

Lorraine, whose recent interview with Meghan Markle’s ex-boyfriend was struck by disaster, starred with Rob alongside Stephen Mulhern and Prue Leith in the Double Trouble sketch for Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.

Meanwhile, the presenter also couldn’t resist making a cheeky joke about the gold shorts Stephen sported on the show, after they left, erm, not a huge amount to the imagination.

Rob also opened up about the future of Gavin and Stacey after the well-loved Christmas episode, with the Uncle Bryn actor admitting: ‘I don’t know what’s going to happen.

‘Whatever I say about this, I get into trouble! If I say I don’t want to do anymore, I look like a killjoy. If I say “I think they should do some more” it’s as if I’m teasing there being another. I honestly don’t know, I’d love it if they did.”‘

He revealed he was surprised by the incredible ratings of the Christmas episode, and has since realised that the show’s popularity has skyrocketed even more after it finished, with fans re-watching in the years since.

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
