Stephen A Smith Reveals Why He Prefers Kevin Durant over LeBron James

LeBron James and Kevin Durant shared a rivalry that dominated the last decade. They first faced off on the big stage in 2012, when James, accompanied by Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, faced Durant, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden in the NBA Finals. The Miami Heat got the victory, but Durant took some drastic moves after that. In 2016, Durant joined the Golden State Warriors and defeated LeBron James in the finals in consecutive years.

Kevin Durant or LeBron James?

But if you had to choose between the two players, who would you choose? The answer for Stephen A. Smith is Kevin Durant, at least on just the offensive end. Stephen A. believes that LeBron James might be the better overall player with a better legacy, but Durant is one of the greatest offensive players ever. Durant is great offensively and can shoot the ball and score from anywhere on the court.

Smith said, “I think that Kevin Durant is one of the greatest talents this game has ever seen. But so is LeBron. LeBron has more rings, LeBron has shown better leadership. But he can’t shoot like Kevin Durant. He doesn’t have the offensive firepower that Durant has. If you’re asking me who would I want offensively, Durant or LeBron James, it would be Kevin Durant.”

Stephen A. Smith believes KD is a better offensive player

Smith added that James doesn’t have the firepower that Durant does. While James has improved his shooting skill, he still doesn’t come close to being the shooter that Durant is these days. Both are mercurial talents, but Durant holds the advantage over James on the offensive end. If the conversation is about who is the better offensive player, Smith would select KD over LeBron James on any occasion.

The analyst added, “Because LeBron James shooting 73% from the free-throw line ain’t cutting it. LeBron James, even though he’s improved his perimeter shooting vastly, still ain’t the shooter Kevin Durant is. No shame on LeBron, but it’s just that Kevin Durant is one of the greatest offensive players we’ve ever seen in the history of basketball. So as an offensive talent, yes I would prefer Kevin Durant.”

Who is the better offensive player between LeBron and KD? Both have significant strengths in their style of play. However, James has admitted that he is more of a facilitator on the offensive end rather than a scorer. Durant on the other hand is a better scorer, who can do everything by himself on the offensive end.
