“They Were Wrong”- Eddie Hearn Lashes at Tyson Fury’s Team for Fight Disputes With Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury, the undisputed heavyweight title unification clash, no longer seems relevant in recent fight discussions. Although Matchroom Promoter Eddie Hearn did every possible thing to stage the event in August, Deontay Wilder’s subtle entry has changed the entire graph.

With an arbitrary case win on board, the former WBC champion has now bagged the trilogy bout with Tyson Fury, and Bob Arum’s team couldn’t do much to prevent it.

Hence, Eddie Hearn has blamed the Top Rank side for failing to settle the Fury vs Joshua bout. Although Hearn still seems optimistic about making it happen, he couldn’t help but throw some verbal heat on ‘The Gypsy King’ and Bob Arum.

Connecting via Matchroom boxing, Eddie Hearn said, “You know we can’t wait around. We have a deal in place with Tyson Fury, we provided an unbelievable opportunity to him. You know we were told by his team, Bob Arum, that the arbitration wouldn’t be an issue. We can move forward with this fight.

“They were wrong. And that’s on them, that’s they are responsibility, that’s now their problem. We hope they can solve that problem.”

However, Bob Arum and his team haven’t ruled out Anthony Joshua from the fighting radar. In a chat with ESPN, Arum revealed his plans, citing December as a likely time for the unification clash between Joshua and Fury. While Top Rank could have paid Deontay Wilder to step aside, Arum has reportedly finalized Fury vs Wilder 3 at the Allegiant Stadium on July 24.

Hence, a lot is going around in the heavyweight division. And, there’s no official championship matchup in the current heavyweight roster.

Where does it leave Anthony Joshua?

‘AJ’ is still fresh with his KO win over Kubrat Pulev in December 2020, and he’s looking to remain active. So, he might opt for another title defense if Tyson Fury walks away to face Deontay Wilder. Meanwhile, Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has hinted at Oleksandr Usyk as being a viable opponent.

But the championship picture is in serious jeopardy right now. Unless Tyson Fury’s side makes an absolute official confirmation regarding their next move, it would be hard for Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder to appear. Nevertheless, Hearn sees optimistic about Joshua’s future, irrespective of Tyson Fury’s stance.
