Simon Cowell has returned to America’s Got Talent after his horror bike accident and his appearance in the new teaser for season 16 has us excited for what’s in store.

The TV mogul made his way back to the show in time for their ‘sweet 16’ season and it appears things will be more emotional – and spectacular – than ever.

Simon’s return comes after he made an impressive recovery after undergoing six hours of surgery on his spine, which forced him to cancel all his TV work for 2020.

Indeed, the 61-year-old looked like he never left as he joined fellow judges comedian Howie Mandell, 65, actress Sofía Vergara, 48, and model Hedi Klum, 47.

Along with host Terry Crews, 52, the group explained what fans can expect when the reality competition series returns in June.

‘This year is sweeter than it’s ever been,’ Howie insists. ‘Because of the year that everyone has been through.’

Simon says that the competition is celebrating joy and happiness as he added: ‘The overriding tone is that we got through it, and now doing this show means more than anything else.’

‘The whole world has a story, and we all overcame,’ Terry added. ‘So it’s almost like everyone deserves a Golden Buzzer’.

In fact, there appears to be one act that moved all the judges so much that they all decided to push the Golden Buzzer together at the same time.

Indeed, he has been taking his rehabilitation seriously and now walks ‘over 40 miles a week’.

Simon has been doing a lot more gentle exercise than he ever has before as a source told MailOnline: ‘Simon said how he hasn’t worn trainers as much as this in 20 years.

‘He feels fitter than ever before and is keeping to a normal routine rather than being on the phone until into the early hours of the morning.’

They added that he walks over 40 miles a week and has been holding business meetings at 9am to stop himself from living like a ‘vampire’ as he tended to do beforehand.

Simon had been left out of action after he tested out his new electric bike for the first time and it ‘flew up in the air and did an accidental wheelie’ as he tried to change gears.

After the accident, he tweeted: ‘Some good advice… If you buy an electric trail bike, read the manual before you ride it for the first time. I have broken part of my back. Thank you to everyone for your kind messages.’

He added: ‘And a massive thank you to all the nurses and doctors. Some of the nicest people I have ever met. Stay safe everyone Simon.’

America’s Got Talent season 16 kicks off June 1 on NBC in the US.
