Denise Welch was seen holding back tears on Loose Women, after she was reminded of her beloved dad Vin, who is currently in hospital.

The panel, Denise, Kaye Adams, Jane Moore and Judi Love, spoke about a viral tweet, which showed an elderly man who was unable to order a drink from his local pub as he wasn’t able to use the app.

The 62-year-old was reminded of her father, tearing up as her co-stars consoled her.

I completely empathise with that man because I would be that person waiting for someone to come along and do it,’ she said. ‘It’s the frustration.

‘Today I’m going to have lunch with somebody afterwards and I must have had three emails from this restaurant to say, “Have you downloaded the app and have you printed out the guest’s invitation?”‘

Denise added: ‘My dad, who has really struggled in lockdown, like many, many people, being such a social person, he’s been really, really poorly. And as his health has declined over this last year, he has really, really struggled with not being able to have people round to do certain things – as regards banking and things like that.

‘My dad is actually in hospital in Newcastle and I just wanted to say love you dad,’ she said.

The soap star went on: ‘It’s just been really, really tough but all of these things have just added to the fact that he can’t… The technology is just going at such a rate. I can’t keep up with it, I can’t bear it anymore.’

Denise has previously opened up about her father, who’s in his eighties, being unwell, as she visited her childhood home to take care of him.

She explained on an episode of Loose Women that her father had been unwell for the past few months.

‘I’m actually in my childhood home which hasn’t really changed very much. My dad Vin, a friend of the show, has not been well bless him since Christmas,’ the Hollyoaks star said.

‘He’s got to have a gall bladder operation and he had a bit of a fall the other night, so my sister and I are sort of sharing care for him at the moment, so I drove up hastily.’

Denise added that Vin ‘wants everybody to know that he’s alright but it was a bit of a shock to the system’.

Vin has previously made an appearance on Loose Women, winning fans as he starred alongside Denise in 2019 and matched her bright pink outfit.

Former Coronation Street actor Denise was born in Northumberland, before moving to County Durham in her early teens.

She has a younger sister called Debbie and has two children, one of which is The 1975 lead singer Matty Healy.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV.
