Prepare For The Biggest Event In Verdansk: World Series of Warzone

Call of Duty Warzone is entering the competitive scene with higher stakes this year. Activision has announced the 2021 World Series of Warzone, which will have four different $300,000 tournaments to compete from. Therefore, it will be the biggest ever Warzone tournament series.

The tournament will host the competitions in duos and trios. Players from both North America and Europe can apply for participation, but currently only NA sign-ups are available on the website. The tournament will kick off on June 23, for the NA region. Players should note that this will be a semi-invitational event, which will mean qualifying spots will be very low.

Format and prize pool of the upcoming Call of Duty Warzone tournament

The June 23 tournament will see 50 trios jump in together and fight their way to survival, for six matches. After the six matches, the winning team will grab $200,000 prize money. The other $100,000 is going to be obtained via Captain’s Cup.

The Captain’s Cup will consist of five captains, all popular Call of Duty players. The Captains will lead ten trio, which makes it a total of 30 players. For the first major event, Captains will select their own team and sort the others. No more than two professional Call of Duty players can play in one team.

The scoring will happen based on kills and placements points. The placements on the table will provide multipliers which the teams will look forward to. The first placed team will have 2X multiplier while the teams in 2nd to 15th position will have 1.5x multiplier.

Besides that Activision will carry out rigorous security checks. This will probably filter out any player with a bit of history on the dark side of competitive gaming. The rules were very clear in the official blog post of the tournament.

“Before participating in a WSOW event, all participants will need to pass an extensive and internal Activision security check to make sure their Activision accounts are in good standing. Participants found to have violated competitive integrity standards will be banned from all future Activision sponsored Warzone events and may be subject to further action.”

Activision will announce the details of the EU and other WSOW events at a later date.
