Sacha Baron Cohen’s Da Ali G Show is reportedly being hit with a warning on BritBox over ‘racist terms’ in the satirical TV series.

Da Ali G Show, which originally aired between 2000 and 2004, starred Sacha as three different characters, all of whom he has gone on to reprise in films: Ali G, Borat and Brüno.

Wannabe rapper Ali G made his first TV appearance on Channel 4’s The 11 O’Clock Show before his eponymous TV show was launched.

According to a new report, Da Ali G Show, which is launching on BritBox after being available to watch on All 4, will alert viewers of ‘crude humour, including racist terms’ that viewers may find offensive.

A source reportedly told The Sun: ‘The warning will be greeted with disbelief by anyone who watched the original series which was almost universally liked.’

They continued: ‘There were some voices who criticised the show for allowing people to laugh at Black, urban street culture, but the majority of viewers thought Ali G was hilarious.’

The publication states that BritBox viewers tuning in to watch Da Ali G Show will be alerted to ‘crude humour, including racist terms which may offend, sexual references and strong language’.

BritBox stated that no edits would be made to the episode aside from any that may have already been made by All4.

‘We’ll be running the episodes as supplied by All4 with no further edits,’ the company said.

Sacha reprised Ali G at the 2016 Oscars when he appeared on stage alongside Olivia to introduce Room and Brooklyn for the Best Picture segment.

Sacha later revealed on Good Morning Britain that he was informed by the Oscars that they only wanted him to present as himself… so his wife Isla Fisher helped him sneak in his costume and put on Ali G’s signature beard in the toilets.

He recently brought the character back again – along with Borat, Brüno and Admiral General Aladeen – while accepting the Comedic Genius prize at the MTV Movie and TV Awards.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that the The Trial of the Chicago 7 actor refused to reveal his risky stunts for Borat to his spouse before they’d taken place.

Speaking to Marie Claire Australia, Isla said: ‘I’m so grateful I didn’t know before, so I didn’t have to worry. Sacha was very kind in not sharing what he intended to shoot each day.’

BritBox declined to comment further when contacted by Metro.co.uk.

Da Ali G Show is available to watch on All 4.
