‘I’ll Pay In as* Whoopings’ – Tyson Fury Explains Why He Didn’t Give Deontay Wilder Any Step-Aside Money

The drama in the heavyweight division has taken over the headlines in the sport recently. A day after Tyson Fury announced he was fighting Anthony Joshua, he was ordered to honor his rematch with old-foe Deontay Wilder. This has caused a huge stir in the division, and the sport.

Initial reports suggested that the undisputed fight could still go ahead if Fury and his team paid Wilder step-aside money. However, Wilder reportedly demanded $20 million, and ‘The Gypsy King’ has now revealed why he didn’t agree to the American’s terms.

The 30-0-1 boxer spoke on the Pug and Copp Boxing Show and addressed the demands made by Wilder. Fury said, “I wouldn’t give him 20,000. I’d rather, I pay in as* whoopings. That’s what I’ll give him. I’ll walk right through him. I’m not interested in giving anyone, any money.”

Fury then added, “They got to earn it. Like I did, the hard way, by fighting the best of the best. And then they can earn good money. Until then, they’re getting as* whoopings from me, no step-aside money.”

Therefore, these comments from the WBC champion showed that paying Wilder was never an option regardless of how much he asked for. Thus, this showed the elite mentality of Fury.

What effect has the Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder trilogy had?

These comments show that ‘The Gypsy King’ is adamant about shutting down the Wilder chapter once and for all. He also claimed that Wilder would not get even a grand to step-aside. Thus, showing how serious he is. However, what effect has this trilogy had on the division?

Fury’s opponent, Anthony Joshua, will now most likely face Oleksandr Usyk as the WBO has already ordered that fight. As a result, Usyk’s potential opponent, Joe Joyce, has to find a new opponent. Moreover, many suggested a fight between Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz Jr. would be next. However, that potential bout is also out of the question now.
