‘I’ll Shut that S*** Down’- Cody Garbrandt Reveals His Game Plan for His Next Fight Against Rob Font

The UFC has a great card in store for the fans at UFC Vegas 27. The main card will feature stars like Carla Esparza, Edmen Shahbazyan, Felicia Spencer, and Jack Hermansson. However, the signature main event fight between bantamweight Rob Font and Cody Garbrandt is going to steal the show.

Former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt is on a good run after beating Raphael Assuncao in his last fight with a spectacular knockout. ‘No Love’ was on a spectacular 11-0 run, culminating in him winning the bantamweight championship.

However, it all went down when he lost the belt to T.J. Dillashaw. He lost to him in their rematch and dropped another loss to Pedro Munhoz, losing all three fights via knockout. Ahead of his fight against Font, ESPN journalist Brett Okamoto spoke to both of the fighters.

In an Instagram post uploaded on his page, he brought the fans’ attention to the dignified trash-talking both the fighters were involved in. Okamoto asked Font if he would try to make Garbrandt emotional, and Font refused.

“I do. I’m not gonna make him emotional, like talking shit or showing off in the ring. I’m gonna frustrate him with my jab and get him emotional, try to win stuff like he did with Pedro Munhoz,” Font replied.

Font then elaborated on his point and said that Garbrandt had improved since that ill-fated Munhoz fight. He concluded by saying that he was going to frustrate the former champion with his skillset and game plan.

Okamoto then went on to talk to Garbrandt and asked him about Font’s jab, but Garbrandt wasn’t fazed in the slightest. “Would you trade a good jab or a laser right hand, the fastest guy in the UFC?

“What would you trade? I’m taking the fastest guy with a mean a** right hand over jab each day,” he answered.

He then accredited his coaching team to helping him improve his skill set. “I got answers for that. I’ll shut that s*** down. That’s what we prepared for, Mark Henry and my coaches. I’m gonna be three-four steps ahead of that guy inside the octagon,” Garbrandt said.
