Loose Women star Brenda Edwards became tearful while talking about Prince Harry’s new interview with Oprah Winfrey, as he opened up about how he coped after the death of Princess Diana.

The Duke of Sussex has joined forces with media mogul Oprah Winfrey to release a new five-part series titled The Me You Can’t See, which features ‘diverse stories of mental health and emotional well-being’.

In the documentary, Prince Harry, 36, accused the royal family of ‘total neglect’ at a time when he felt ‘completely helpless’, explaining that he would use drinking as a ‘mask’ to cope with the trauma of the death of his mother.

On Friday’s edition of Loose Women, the panel discussed Prince Harry’s collaboration with Oprah, with Brenda, 52, becoming choked up as she explained the impact it had on her.

‘I think for me the thing that comes out of this and that title The Me You Can’t See, it really hit a nerve with me because as Harry said in his Oprah interview, he said that he can say what he wants to say, but his brother and his father necessarily can’t,’ the TV presenter said.

Brenda added that she thinks it’s a case of ‘a lot of people judging the book by the cover’.

‘Just because they’re in that public eye, or in that establishment, in that firm, people think that you don’t have feelings,’ she said.

‘But it really touched me, it really touched me, just to hear them being able to talk their truth and I just hope people let them do it freely as they want to.’

Several Loose Women viewers expressed their concern over Brenda as they watched her wipe away her tears.

‘Aww Brenda’s crying, hope she’s okay,’ one person said.

‘I hope Brenda is okay, I could see her crying,’ another tweeted.

While speaking in The Me You Can’t See, Prince Harry revealed that some of his son Archie’s first words after ‘mama’ and ‘papa’ were ‘grandma Diana’.

Speaking about his late mother, the duke said: ‘I wish she could have met Meghan. I wish she was around for Archie.

‘I’ve got a photo up in his nursery… and it was one of the first words that he said. Apart from “mama”, “papa”, it was then “grandma”, “grandma Diana”.’

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
