Lord Alan Sugar is on fine from, roasting the new contestants on Celebrity Apprentice Australia in his trademark blunt way ahead of the show’s premiere.

In an upcoming trailer for the show, which begins airing Down Under this Sunday after a six-year break, the 74-year-old millionaire did not mince his words as he met the cast for the first time in his boardroom.

To the awkward laughs of his new wannabe apprentices, Lord Sugar went straight in and dismissed the whole famous cast by declaring: ‘I haven’t got a bloody clue who any of you are!’

As Lord Sugar took in the room, which included surfer and social media star Alex Hayes, radio host Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli and Lisa and Jess Origliasso from pop duo The Veronicas, as well as British comedian Ross Noble, he had some choice comments for some of the contestants.

Turning to Michael first, Lord Sugar was confused by his nickname, cheekily asking: ‘You haven’t been caught in an S&M dungeon, have you?’

Michael laughed and gamely played along, saying he hadn’t – ‘not for about a week now’.

For The Veronicas, Lord Sugar was merely bemused by the photograph of the duo he’d been supplied with, exclaiming to the sisters: ‘I thought you were joined at the head!’

But it was the influencers among the contestants who seemed to attract the sharpest of Lord Sugar’s barbs.

To Martha Kalifatidis, star of Married at First Sight Australia, Lord Sugar shared that he knew they called her ‘the Kmart Kardashian’.

As an embarrassed Martha tried to own the title, agreeing that ‘anything to help you look good, I’ll influence it’, Lord Sugar shut her down with an insincere: ‘Right, good, thank you so much for that’.

Lord Sugar then asked 23-year-old Alex if his mother knew he was here, before zeroing in on his 550,000 followers.

In Lord Sugar’s eyes, this wasn’t necessarily that impressive, as he pointed out: ‘I mean the Pied Paper had a lot of followers, but he ended up with a lot of rat s*** on your [sic] shoes, didn’t he?’

The prickly business mogul is worth an estimated £1.21billion, so the Australian celebrities will likely do well to take any of his advice on board during the series if they wish to succeed.

Celebrity Apprentice premieres Sunday at 7pm on Channel Nine
