‘Not Gonna Be Easy’- Michael Bisping Weighs in on Cody Garbrandt Potentially Becoming a Two-Division Champion

Former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt is ready to lock horns with Rob Font at UFC Vegas 27 headliner this Saturday.

He will look to continue his momentum after picking up a victory in his last match. Prior to which he had succumbed to 3 straight losses.

In a recent interview, former middleweight champion Michael Bisping discussed Cody Garbrandt’s upcoming match. He also revealed the latter’s intention of becoming a two-division champion.

“Just going back to Cody for a second. He still got the desire,” he said.

“He was supposed to fight Deiveson Figueiredo for the 125-pound belt and then he got Covid and was out for a while. Then he had lingering effects from the Covid.”

‘The Count’ further discussed how Garbrandt’s cardio and other aspects were affected and he had to give up on that dream at that time.

“But he is now back to fight the bantamweight, but he says he still kind of, not fixating but he still is in plans to be a two-division champ. But it’s not gonna be easy,” Bisping concluded.

Bisping further continued and weighed both the fighters (Garbrandt and Font). He said in terms of power and wrestling ability, Garbrandt is ahead of the two but Font is taller and has knockout power. He believes it going to be an interesting fight.

How has Cody Garbrandt been performing lately?

‘No Love’ (12-3) is heading into his next fight after having 1 win in his last 4 fights. His last fight fetched him an impressive KO victory against Raphael Assuncao at UFC 250.

Prior to that, he hardly fought matches in 3 years. He suffered 3 losses on the trot. One against Pedro Munhoz at UFC 235 via TKO. His other 2 losses were heavy and against a guy who used to train with him, T.J. Dillashaw.

Dillashaw decimated Garbrandt in successive matches. First at UFC 217 via TKO and then an even more impressive KO win inside the first round at UFC 227. Garbrandt had tasted defeat for the first time in his career at UFC 217 and Dillashaw made it twice in a row.

With his match against Font, ‘No Love’ would look to make a strong case of himself for the title challenge. On the other hand, Font will look to add an impressive name to his list of victories.

Who do you think will walk out as the winner?
