REPORTS: WWE May Resume Live Shows in The Upcoming Months

In the United States, the pandemic is subdued to a great extent. Hence, the discussions regarding the return of live events are growing in numbers each day. With many live sports events already announced, now it is the turn for WWE.

In the agenda of having live crowds once again, Fox is reportedly playing a huge part. According to WrestleVotes, a source has revealed “FOX has privately pushed for a return to live crowds over the past few weeks, actively seeking updates on timeframes, etc. They’d like their billion dollar investment on the same playing field as the MLB, NBA & others.”

The likes of NHL, NBA, and MLB allowed limited numbers of fans back at their arenas. WWE’s rival AEW is holding a limited live audience from last year itself.

On the other hand, WWE is taking extra precautions in this case. In April, WrestleMania 37 was the first PPV to have a live audience since last year’s pandemic.

As a business, Fox would love to have the best out of their investments. There is no news of live fans as of now. In an earnings call last month, WWE revealed they are looking forward to restarting their live events in the second half of the year.

WWE Fans are likely to return from Money in the Bank

Apart from WrestleVotes and the earnings call, Sports Illustrated recently shared another update regarding the live events. They also confirmed SummerSlam would take place in Nevada.

The SI report also revealed why Hell in a Cell was pushed from October to June. Apparently, “Hell in a Cell in June will be a stronger broadcast from the ThunderDome, while Money in the Bank in July—which is currently slated to be held in front of a crowd in Texas—is significantly more captivating with fans.”

Hence, it is likely that Hell in a Cell would be the last PPV in the ThunderDome before WWE invites its live audience. Another source confirmed the Go-Home edition of SmackDown to Money in the Bank (the PPV following HIAC), MITB and the RAW after would have a live audience.

While WWE enjoys the ThunderDome set up for an extraordinary viewing experience, the company won’t return to the virtual setting once they start having live crowds.
