BRILLIANT! Coco Gauff Completes an Incredible Title Sweep After Maria Sharapova Following Doubles Win at WTA Parma 2021

Coco Gauff, the American teenage sensation, registered a remarkable victory by winning the singles title at the Emilia-Romagna Open as she defeated Qiang Wang in straight sets 6-1, 6-3.

The young American didn’t give any chance for Wang to bounce back at any point during the match. Even though Gauff made six double-faults in the entire match, she maintained a high percentage of points won on both first and second serves.

Also, Gauff saved all the four break-points against her. The American made sure to rise her clutch game when it mattered the most. Wang didn’t play aggressive enough from the baseline to trouble Gauff.

In the end, it was an easy but historic victory for the American as she continues her phenomenal run on the red-dirt this year with 12 wins and just 3 losses.

Immediately after the singles match, Gauff also played the doubles finals along with Caty McNally. The duo played against the number two seeds Andreja Klepac and Darija Jurak.

If the American manages to win the doubles match, she would become the first since Maria Sharapova to win both singles and doubles titles at a single tournament. The legendary Russian achieved this feat at Birmingham Open as a teenager aged just 17.

In the doubles final, both Gauff and McNally look worn out in the first few games as they were down 0-3 in no time. Just when the first set was about to slip away from their hands, the American pair displayed absolute domination and won the next six games to clinch the set, 6-3.

The American duo continued their domination even in the second set as they won two break points to get a quick 4-1 lead. But, Klepac and Jurak managed to compensate one break point.

But, Gauff’s aggression proved worthwhile as they broke Klepac’s serve once again in the seventh game and served for the match. The duo won the finals in an emphatic manner 6-3,6-2.

It has been a phenomenal week for Coco Gauff as she became the first young woman since Maria Sharapova to win both singles and doubles title at a WTA tournament.

With this victory, the young American becomes one of the prime contenders for the upcoming French Open along with other stars like Ashleigh Barty, Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, and Elina Svitolina.
