Eurovision 2021 viewers are ‘shook’ by Flo Rida’s appearance with San Marino as final performance stuns

Tonight there was an unusual addition to San Marino’s performance, and that was the well-known rapper Flo Rida.

If his stage name sounds familiar, Flo Rida has had five number one UK singles – Right Round, Club Can’t Handle Me, Good Feeling, Bad Boys (with Alexandra Burke) and Troublemaker (with Olly Murs).

The rapper featured on Senhit’s Eurovision 2021 entry Adrenalina, and performed the track live in Rotterdam.

You may think that Flo Rida is a fan of the competition but earlier this year he told Radio 1 Newsbeat he hadn’t heard of the contest before being approached to do his verse for the song.

He said: ‘Senhit’s people reached out to my people. The song is high energy, which I love.’

The rapper added that it is ‘such a good feeling to be back in Europe after so long’ and said he was ‘very grateful to be able to perform on one of the biggest stages’.

Flo Rida is from America, but there are no rules stating that you have to be from the country you represent.

So why not have one of the most streamed artists in the world represent one of Europe’s smallest countries?

Even though his performance may be a nice reminder of nights spent at the club in the 2010s, many people still asked why he was there in the first place.

One person put it bluntly when they queried: ‘Why was flo rida here tho? [sic]’

‘Can’t believe we’re closing with flo rida how did San Marino pull that out the bag?’ another questioned.

Viewers couldn’t seem to process the fact that the rapper was featured in the compeition.

One person tweeted: ‘Never thought I’d live to see the day that Flo Rida would be on Eurovision…’

Another said: ‘I still haven’t processed the fact that i saw flo rida in eurovision [sic].’

No matter how he ended up on that stage, he certainly smashed his performance.
