‘Adrenaline’ Saved Unwell Vettel’s Monaco GP Qualifying
It was a bittersweet outing for Germany’s Sebastian Vettel at the qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix. In what has been a hint at the return of his good days, he made it into Q3 and will start from P8 for today’s race. However, the four-time champion was down in terms of health and looks to keep that aside for the race.
The Aston Martin driver is in a good position for the Grand Prix as he starts in eighth behind Lewis Hamilton. He would aim to keep the place and try to get ahead as he hopes to score his first F1 points of the season.
Sebastian Vettel felt nervous during the qualifying session
As quoted by Auto motor und sport, Vettel revealed that he “was a bit nervous.”
Despite risking Q1 to ensure that he could have two set of tires in the third session, Seb managed to out-qualify rivals such Yuki Tsunoda, Fernando Alonso, and Nicholas Latifi.
Speaking of his health, Vettel said, “But in Monte Carlo you have so much adrenaline in your blood that the bad night before is quickly forgotten.”
The German feels good as he prepares for the race
The 33-year-old was quite pleased with his qualifying session, and is happy with the improvement in his performance with Aston Martin.
Vettel said to Sky F1, as quoted by PlanetF1, “It was a bit better. I’ve always liked this track. I think I got two or three good laps. It’s definitely a good feeling.”
“I felt quite good on Thursday in free practice and it was about maintaining that feeling, to always stay a step ahead,” he concluded.
Vettel would aim to perform even better on race day and will hope that he can score his first F1 points for his Silverstone-based team. What do you think of the German’s performance at Monte Carlo? Let us know in the comments below.
