Kevin Harvick Finally Gets a NASCAR Front Row Start in 2021 But there is a Twist

The qualifying session for the NASCAR Xfinity Series has concluded with an unusual name on pole. Kevin Harvick in one of his rare Xfinity starts, snatch pole position in the pouring rain. Alongside him on the front row is fellow Cup Series driver, Ross Chastain. Meanwhile, Justin Allgaier starts third, alongside Jeb Burton, with Justin Haley and AJ Allmendinger behind them.

Cole Custer, Harrison Burton, Austin Cindric and Tyler Reddick complete the Top 10. Meanwhile, Alex Labbe and Kyle Busch just miss out on a Top 10 berth. To be perfectly honest, Harvick definitely needed the pole position morale boost, even if it is in the Xfinity Series. This is because, he has been struggling in the Cup Series in 2021.

Can Kevin Harvick make up for his poor Cup form?

Back in 2020, the Stewart-Haas Racing driver was in the form of his life. He snagged nine wins during the season, winning the NASCAR regular series championship. The only man who could match him on the win counter was Joe Gibbs Racing driver, Denny Hamlin. Sadly, when the playoffs arrived, Harvick faltered despite putting up a valiant effort.

Everything came to a head in the penultimate race when he had to battle it out to make the Championship 4. Unfortunately, he just missed out by virtue of a single position, while Hamlin, Chase Elliott, Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski battled it out. During that particular race, Kevin Harvick tried a desperate lunge on Kyle Busch and tried to spin him out.

However, it backfired on the Stewart-Haas driver in a spectacular manner. Both of them spun, but Busch was able to retain his place on the track. Meanwhile, poor old Harvick hit the wall and ended his title hopes. Now in 2021, the #4 driver is pretty far from championship contention and will want to get his championship challenge underway as soon as possible.
