It was shocks all round on SAS: Who Dares Wins recruit number five was finally unmasked as the mole in the ranks.

Things got even more unbelievable as seconds after his identity was revealed, Ant Middleton told the contestants he would be joining him on the DS staff. Oh boy.

It had the others completely rattled as they warned each other not to call him ‘mate’ from then on and speculated about the change in his character they would see over the coming days as he went from one of the guys to bossing them about.

Ant clearly enjoyed dropping the bombshell, telling the contestants that the mole – Anthony ‘Staz’ Stazicker – had been their eyes and ears so far but now he ‘belongs with us and not with you’.

Ant added that the new DS means ‘more eyes, more ears on you.’

Star Jason Fox reacted to the big reveal after Sunday night’s episode, sharing a picture of himself with Staz on Twitter.

He wrote, ‘You what? Recruit 5? Nah, not seen him mate!’ and added a picture of him with his new instructor, who quote-tweeted it and replied: ‘No more Mr Nice Guy! #Mate #SASWhoDaresWins #molewho’.

On his website Staz reveals he is a ‘distinguished Special Forces Operator’ and ‘a highly experienced Chief Sniper Instructor & demolitions expert’.

In order to throw everyone else off the scent that he was more experienced than they realised, he deliberately botched a breath-taking plunge into freezing water at the beginning of the show.

Viewers also saw him in the episode volunteer to become the ‘red man’, which saw him kitted out in protective gear while the recruits took out their aggression on him.

It was also an incredibly emotional instalment as recruitment Jamie opened up about the horrific child abuse he suffered at the hands of a football coach when he was a young footballer.

Jamie said: ‘I’ve got to carry the last 25 years with me. There are days that I wake up and it’s a challenge.

‘It ingrains itself in everything. I just wish I’d had the strength of character to have raised my hand and been the one that got him arrested. Someone else had that strength and saved the rest of us.’

Elsewhere recruit number 15, personal trainer Alan, decided to quit the course.

SAS: Who Dares Wins airs Sundays at 9pm on Channel 4.
