“Really Good At Shutting It Off”: Alexis Ohanian Hails Wife Serena Williams for Maintaining Perfect Balance Between Tennis and Personal Life

Internet entrepreneur and the husband of Serena Williams, Alexis Ohanian has always found himself at the center of several discussions, ranging from bitcoin to paid family leave for men.

With investments in multiple domains, Ohanian is a busy man, juggling from one task to another. Last year, the entrepreneur launched a new podcast titled “Business Dad”, to discuss parenting with several successful men in different fields.

In a recent interview, Ohanian talked about learnings from his podcast. He reminisced the episode with popular comedian Hasan Minhaj and the learnings he took from the interaction.

Ohanian praises Serena Williams for balancing tennis and family life perfectly

“One of my favorite guests was Hasan Minhaj. And one of the things he talked about was, you know, his wife called him out specifically for this early on and said, ‘Take this time with your daughter. Take this time to be with her. Because, you will never get it back”, Ohanian mentioned.

The co-founder of Reddit also remembered how Serena Williams asked him to take time out for his family. In fact, Ohanian praised the American‘s ability to balance tennis and family life perfectly.

“One thing that I am still working on is balancing that[work-life] with time-off, with time away, with time to reset and recharge. And something she[serena] is really good at is shutting it off, and focusing on family time or personal time”, continued Ohanian.

The entrepreneur also stressed the need for more men to talk about spending quality family time. He also added that it was one of the main motivations behind ‘Business dad’. 

“We need more men talking about this stuff[quality family time]. Because, I mean, so many career-driven men, who also, as soon as you get them talking about their kids, you realize they care as much about this, thinking more about this, than their empires”, concluded Alexis Ohanian.

With his wide-varied interests, the American entrepreneur is striving hard to create a difference. Coming to Serena, she took time off training for the last two days to attend the Monaco Grand Prix and the Ultimate Tennis Showdown.

To prepare for the French Open, the 23-time grand slam champion played two tournaments on the red-dirt(Rome Masters and Parma Open), Serena lost in the initial rounds of both tournaments.
