“That’s Why We Are Ahead” – Verstappen Hails Red Bull Masterclass in Monaco

With a superb win in Monaco, Max Verstappen shot to the top of the driver’s championship for the first time in his career this Sunday. Although he didn’t take pole, a driveshaft failure for Charles Leclerc meant the Dutchman started ahead of the rest, and stayed there for all 78 laps.

Before the weekend, Lewis Hamilton made comments about his championship rival, which the Dutchman didn’t take to kindly. However, he gave a fitting response to those comments after cruising to a win in the Principality.

Although Hamilton took the fastest lap, he finished P7 in the Monaco Grand Prix. Despite a seven-point haul, the Briton conceded the championship lead to Verstappen after Sunday’s result.

A 37-point haul for Red Bull meant they took the lead in the driver’s and constructor’s championship this season. With only five races completed, Verstappen believes the team made the smallest mistakes this season, which is why they are ahead of their rivals on all fronts. In addition to that, he also hopes that their momentum can continue for the rest of the season.

“We, as a team, so far, made the smallest mistakes and that’s why we are ahead,” said Verstappen. So I hope we can keep that going for the rest of the season.”

Verstappen: Actions speak louder than words

Ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix, Hamilton made a comment on his title rival Verstappen, where he mentioned the Dutchman feels he needs to improve.

While Verstappen retorted by saying he had nothing to prove, he didn’t stop there; he yielded a masterclass on Sunday. He believes his performance gave a fitting response to Hamilton’s comments, which he made clear in the post-race press conference.

The Dutchman said“First of all, actions always speak louder than words. I think that’s a good lesson after this weekend. You know you have to talk on the track. That’s what I like.”

With the next race in Baku, Red Bull will be favorites going into another street circuit. Although they seem to have the upper hand, Mercedes cannot be counted out just yet. Can Verstappen and Red Bull extend their lead in the “Land of Fire”?
