WATCH: Destiny 2 Players Accidentally Insta-Kill the Final Boss in the Vault of Glass Raid

Destiny 2 fans know how hard it can be to complete the various raids in the game. From Leviathan and Scourge of the Past, players have had to face a lot of hardships to defeat the final boss and earn some amazing loot. The recently released Vaults of Glass was the latest to join the long list of content from Bungie, and it has proven to be a tough outing for everyone.

The Raid from the series’ first title brought back a lot of nostalgia for the older players of the franchise. One highlight of the Vault of Glass Raid is the final boss in Atheon, and players have had a hard time killing it. But one crew somehow insta-killed the entity, and no one knows how they did it.

Destiny 2 players instantly kill Atheon in the Vault of Glass Raid

In the Vault of Glass Raid, players will find Atheon, Time’s Conflux after defeating the Templars and finishing the gatekeeper encounter. Atheon is a Vex Lord, and one of the original Raid bosses from Destiny. It’s one of the most difficult entities to kill, and it’s clear to see why players receive mind-blowing exotic loots such as the Vex Mythoclast and many more.

Usually it takes a lot of time and strategy while using some of the best builds specifically for the Vault of Glass Raids to clear it. But one team somehow killed it using a Titan Bubble. In a clip posted by Bidzino, the crew accidentally melted Atheon after they used the tethers to hit him. Following the entity’s stomp, it instantly lost damage and died, which caused a lot of confused looks from the players.

How died Atheon instantly die?

Insta-killing Atheon has almost become a joke in the community because of the cheese move players used in the first game. In Destiny, players killed the entity in the Vault of Glass Raid by pushing it off the ledge using Solar Grenades. But with the new Raid, Bungie threatened players with disqualifications if they used this strategy in the game.

We have identified an issue where players can potentially push Raid Bosses off of ledges.

If players attempt to use this as a strategy during the Vault of Glass World First Raid they will be disqualified.

Ever since the clip became viral in the community, fans have tried a lot to replicate the insta-kill method in their games. Most of them have failed in their attempts, but some of them have theories behind Atheon’s quick death. They believe that it killed itself after it stomped inside the Bubble. Along with that, some of them think that the Tether may have had a part in exploding the supplicants and then self-damaging Atheon.

It remains to be seen if Bungie will patch this issue soon. Many fans think that the developers might exclude Tethers to make sure that players don’t use this trick. In the end, it’s almost hilarious to see few random Destiny 2 players find the ultimate weapon to kill a Lord in the weirdest way possible.
